Welcome to Live Love Play and this Livestream Highlight from Battlefleet Gothic. In this Highlight I wax enthusiastic about Warhammer 40k while commanding a fleet, poorly.
Battlefleet Gothic(BFG) is a tactical space combat game created by Games Workshop and taking place in the Warhammer 40k Universe. Clearly, I do not do this very well. In fact, I am surprised my ship’s Commisar hasn’t put a bolter round through my skull for incompetence.
The fun of this clip comes from chatting with my viewers about the game, the universe, and our shared fandom. 40k’s lore is extensive with decades of development to draw from and dozens of armies(and navies) to have fun with. For this game I command the a fleet of the Imperial Navy against the Nemesis ships of Chaos, the swift corsairs of the Eldar, and the ugly Space Hulks of the Orks.
This is a cold playthough. I have no previous experience with this game so far and getting used to the mechanics of the game is a challenge. Often I feel disadvantaged in the matches against Chaos who’s superior rage wears down my ships’ defenses before their own weapons are in range. Against Orks I fare even worse, their ugly ships are heavily armored and I have a hard time grinding them down before their battle hungry masters tear though my own. My only victories come against the Eldar. Their ships are fast and agile but their thin hulls break under my macro cannons.
In addition to the game I feature a camera feed from my Makerbot Replicator 3D printer and the print in progress. I am printing a portion of a large dice tower for a tabletop RPG. This wall in progress took 14 hours to print in all.
